Representatives of over 200 companies and a number of media witnessed today, 14.06.2016 in Shenzhen, China, the signing of the launch of Chinese-European pilot project for a global corporate city in Trakia Economic Zone/TEZ/. The contract for joint building and management of „EU-China New Economy Cooperation Pilot Zone – Plovdiv“ was signed by Eng. Plamen Panchev, creator of TEZ and the Chairman of the BD of „Sienit Holding“ Jsc. and Chen Zongjian, Chairman of the BD of the Chinese company China Shenzhen Porter Holdings Co., Ltd. The ceremony took place within an investment forum for the project presentation as an innovative model for economic development before the interested Chinese companies. During the forum „Sienit Holding“ Jsc. and China Shenzhen Porter Holdings Co., Ltd also signed agreements with Chinese financial companies and investment funds for financial participation in the project, as well as with the German business association having more than 100 companies members.
The project will cover an area of about 2,6 million m² and built up area of about 5 million m². The global city will be an European headquarters /„Porter City – European Headquarters“/ of the Chinese company China Shenzhen Porter Holdings Co., Ltd. it will enable producers from around the world (Europe, Middle East and Africa, Russia and the CIS countries) to present their products and establish offices, retail and logistic centers in TEZ. The pilot zone represents an innovative public business platform, e-trade, logistics and finance, providing direct connection between the user and manufacturer. The huge interest in it was evidenced by the fact that over an hour after the forum completion the media continued to interview the project initiators.
The official ceremony was held in the presence of the Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Mr. Vladimir Tudzharov, Governor of Plovdiv Mr.Zdravko Dimitrov, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council Mr. Angel Angelov, Deputy Mayor of Karlovo Stoyo Karagenski and other officials from Bulgaria and China.
The project is fully supported from both Bulgarian and Chinese side, which became clear on an earlier meeting between Mr. Tudzharov and the Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen Mr.Chen Biao, who visited Plovdiv a year ago. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov and Mr. Angel Angelov. During the meeting were discussed the opportunities for expanding the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and China and Shenzhen in particular which is twinned with Plovdiv. In Shenzhen is set up the first speci8al economic zone in China. For 35 years Shenzhendeveloped from a small fisherman village to to a 20 million city with a GDP of 270 billion US dollars for the year 2015 and implemented overseas investments of 7 billion US dollars. The Bulgarian delegation extended an invitation to Shenzhen Airlines to participate in the tender for the concession for Plovdiv Airport. The Chinese side engaged itself to forward the invitation to the company. The development of the airport would support the realization of the Chinese-European pilot project for global corporative headquarters in TEZ. The biggest Chinese television CCTV immediately broadcasted an extended report of the conversations led in the Shenzhen Municipality.
During his visit to Shenzhen, the chief Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Mr. Vladimir Tudzharov met the president of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade in Shenzhen (CCPIT Shenzhen) Mr.Ye Jiande. With him were discussed the opportunities for introducing more Chinese companies with the excellent business and investment conditions which Bulgaria offers. In turn Bulgarian companies may participate in the upcoming in September seminar on economic cooperation between China (Shenzhen) and the Central and East European countries. „Bulgaria is an important country in Central and East Europe, which has the potential to act as the gateway for Chinese companies to Europe “, said Mr. Ye.
